Welcome to CMBA's Consumer Resource Center, the web-based homeownership site for the California Mortgage Bankers Association!
President George W. Bush has proclaimed June 2005 National Homeownership Month as part of an effort to increase homeownership nationwide. Nearly 70% of Americans now own their homes, but there is much more to be done. The California Mortgage Bankers Association is proud to be partnering with local organizations, government entities, and our member companies to make the American Dream of homeownership a reality for Californians.
For many families, the pathway to homeownership begins with financial literacry. CMBA has actively worked to help families get their finances under control, monitor their credit, and begin the exciting process of homeownership. CMBA's Consumer Resource Center provides many valuable opportunities to learn more about personal financial management.
While the home buying process can seem overwhelming, CMBA is committed to making the lending process understandable. Many CMBA members, non-profit organizations, and government bodies provide detailed guides for first-time home buyers. These guides include practical steps that can make the seemingly complicated process of purchasing a home much easier to understand.
